Smoke-free beaches in Andratx

There are two smoke-free beaches in Andratx. Andratx Town Council, with the aim of promoting the health, social and environmental benefits, has joined the programme of the Balearic Government “Platges sense fum” in 2023.

The two smoke-free beaches in Andratx to date are:

• Camp de Mar beach.
• Sant Elm beach.

“Smoke-free beaches” is a health and environmental protection programme that began in 2019. The Directorate General of Public Health and Participation and the Directorate General of Waste and Environmental Education want to promote and enhance healthy lifestyles and the benefits of a life without tobacco with the care of smoke-free beaches and waste.
With the aim of continuing to raise awareness of the major health problem of smoking, the public is asked to cooperate in respecting these natural spaces.

In this way, not only do we collaborate with environmental conservation policies, but we will also be able to enjoy a smoke-free environment and avoid possible accidents for our children in relation to the waste generated by smokers’ cigarette butts.

For all these reasons, it is proposed to take responsibility for carrying out this project by recommending not to smoke on the beaches that are identified as “Smoke-free beaches”.
